Ryan Garcia Misses Weight for Devin Haney Fight
Garcia Weighs in 3.2 Pounds Over Limit
Fight to Continue as Non-Title Bout
Ryan Garcia has dramatically missed weight for his WBC super lightweight title fight against Devin Haney. Garcia weighed in at 143.2 pounds on Friday, a whopping 3.2 pounds over the 140-pound limit. As a result, Garcia will not be eligible to claim Haney's WBC title even if he wins the fight.
Garcia was given an opportunity to rehydrate and weigh in again on Saturday, but he still came in over the limit at 144.9 pounds. Despite the weight discrepancy, a deal was reached for the fight to proceed as a non-title bout.
This is a significant setback for Garcia, who was aiming to capture his first world title. Haney, meanwhile, will be looking to defend his WBC belt for the second time.
The fight is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas on Saturday night. It will be televised live on DAZN.
