Mississippi State head coach Zach Arnett expressed his disappointment during a press conference following the team's 40-17 loss to Alabama on Saturday.
"Obviously, this wasn't the result we were looking for," Arnett said. "We've got to be better in all phases of the game. We didn't execute on offense, we gave up too many big plays on defense, and we didn't take care of the ball on special teams."
The Bulldogs struggled to keep up with Alabama's high-powered offense, allowing 508 total yards. Quarterback Bryce Young threw for 340 yards and four touchdowns, while running back Jahmyr Gibbs rushed for 121 yards and a score.
"Alabama is a great team, and they're well-coached," Arnett said. "We have to give them credit. They played a great game. But we're going to learn from this and get better."
Mississippi State's offense managed just 258 total yards and turned the ball over three times. Quarterback Will Rogers completed 18 of 32 passes for 159 yards, but he threw two interceptions and was sacked four times.
"We didn't protect the ball well enough," Arnett said. "We had too many turnovers. We've got to clean that up."
The Bulldogs have now lost three of their last four games and are 3-3 overall this season. They will face Texas A&M at home next Saturday.
