Turkey Boss Admits Wales Under Craig Bellamy Hard To Prepare For

Turkey boss admits Wales under Craig Bellamy ‘hard to prepare’ for

Rob Page's Dragons have dazzled under their new-look coaching set-up

Senol Gunes admits it is hard to predict what Wales will do under Craig Bellamy and his new-look coaching team.

Wales have won three of their five matches since Rob Page took charge in November, with Bellamy joining as his assistant.

They host Turkey in a friendly on Thursday as part of their preparations for the World Cup play-offs in March.

And Turkey boss Gunes says the Dragons are now a different proposition under Page and Bellamy.

"Since Rob Page and his assistants have been in charge Wales have played five games and won three of them," said Gunes.

"In those three wins they have played very well, particularly against Belgium.

"Craig Bellamy has joined the staff and I think it is positive to have someone with his experience alongside Rob Page.

"He was a very good player and a very good goalscorer.

"He will bring his own ideas and will give his support to the other members of staff and players.

"They have some very good players and when you look at their recent results you have to say they are in good form.

"Wales have also qualified for the World Cup play-offs so that shows just how tough this match will be for us.

"We know we are in for a very difficult game."

Gunes is keen to use the friendly to experiment with his team ahead of the play-offs.

Turkey are in the same play-off path as Wales and could face them in Cardiff in March.

"I want to use this game to try different formations and different players," said Gunes.

"I want to give some of the players who have not played so much a chance to show what they can do.

"This is a very important game for us because it is our last game before the play-offs.

"We want to finish our preparations on a positive note and take that into the play-offs."
